Hydrolyzed Silk Protein, also called Silk Amino Acids or Hydrolyzed Silk, is a luxurious cosmetic ingredient extracted from silk fibers and broken into very small peptides so it becomes water-soluble and easy to absorb.
What Hydrolyzed Silk Protein Is
Silk fiber proteins (fibroin and sericin) broken down through hydrolysis
Results in tiny silk peptides or amino acids
Water-soluble and clear
Lightweight and non-sticky
Silk proteins naturally contain serine, a strong moisturizing amino acid.
Benefits for Hair
Strengthens hair – small peptides penetrate the cuticle and improve tensile strength
Reduces breakage – forms a light protective film over each strand
Adds shine – silk molecules reflect light for a glossy effect
Improves slip – makes hair smoother and easier to detangle
Moisturizes – holds water and prevents dryness
Benefits for Skin
Acts as a humectant and improves moisture
Makes skin feel smooth and silky
Strengthens the skin barrier
Leaves a thin, soft film that reduces moisture loss
Typical Usage Rates
