Olivem 1000

Olivem 1000 is a natural, self-emulsifying wax derived from olive oil. It’s widely used in skin care formulations — especially creams, lotions, and emulsions — because it creates stable oil-in-water emulsions

🧪 INCI Name: Cetearyl Olivate (and) Sorbitan Olivate

🌿 Origin: Derived from olive oil fatty acids and sorbitol — making it biodegradable, PEG-free, and natural (Ecocert/COSMOS approved).

Function

Emulsifier: Creates and stabilizes O/W emulsions.

Moisturizer: Mimics skin lipids to improve hydration.

Skin feel modifier: Leaves a soft, velvety, non-greasy finish.

🧴 Usage Rate

Typical range: 2–8% of the total formulation

Light lotions → 2–4%

Rich creams → 4–8%

🌡 Processing Guidelines

• Add to oil phase.
• Heat both oil and water phases to ≈70–75 °C, then combine.
• Homogenize and stir while cooling to room temperature.
• Works best at a final pH of 5–7.

Compatibility

• Compatible with most natural oils, butters, and fatty alcohols (e.g., cetyl or cetearyl alcohol).
• Can be used with humectants (glycerin, propanediol) and active ingredients.
• Avoid adding high electrolyte concentrations, as they can destabilize the emulsion.
