Clay raises pH slightly; adjust with citric acid if making a balanced cleanser or mask. Recommended pH is around 5.Add humectants
Clay alone can feel drying. Combine with glycerin, honey, aloe vera, propanediol, or panthenol.Add soothing ingredients
To reduce irritation, add allantoin, oat extract, chamomile extract, panthenol, or centella asiatica.Preserve water-based clay formulas
If your clay mask contains water, you must use a preservative.
