Add to water phase (or cool-down)
Stable over pH 4.5–8.0
Compatible with:
- Niacinamide
- Ceramides
- Hyaluronic acid
- Panthenol
- Alpha hydroxy acids
- Can slightly increase formula electrolyte load (affects carbomer gels)

- Sodium PCA is not a preservative
- Water-based formulas must be preserved
- Stable under normal cosmetic processing
- Hygroscopic therefore store tightly sealed
